Metamorphosis

I’ve been doing a lot of project planning recently, which despite being somewhat tedious and time consuming…I also find it satisfying.

It’s been a little difficult to keep up with my personal projects while balancing auditions, the holidays and work but I made it my goal to try and at least finish the planning process.

I find that the majority of my planning is spent brainstorming, which often ends up turning into a procrastination session of creating Spotify playlists, watching Youtube videos and scrolling through Instagram and Twitter. Very productive, I know. Despite that, I find it counter productive to force everything into place all at once. I start with one idea and build it slowly. That way when I finally get working on it, everything comes together smoothly…at least, I hope it does.

Originally I thought that I was going to try and treat my project development period as a sort of…Nanowrimo 2.0, but instead I’d rather go at a steady pace and do what I can when I can spare a few minutes. I jot down the ideas as they come to me, and return to them when I’ve got more time to expand them. I find this works better than rushing through them. I like to make sure the details actually add up before I go throwing myself into my work…I’ve found that when I do that, I end up with a bunch of unnecessary nonsense.

I also enjoy revisiting older ideas and watching them go through this sort of…metamorphosis. It really is beautiful watching them grow and change.

I’m really looking forward to what the new year has to bring.
