I sent my scene to my editor. I ended up reading it over a few more times just to make sure it fit. Hopefully it works as a replacement…otherwise, that’s okay. I’m fine either way.
My goal for the rest of the day is to keep editing Chapter 22. I’ve made a lot of progress and I still have a lot to do on my reference journal but so far so good.
I’ve also been reading a lot this week and adding books to my wishlist. I think reading is actually helping me with my editing as well. The things that I see in the passages I read, really hammer in what my editor has been pointing out. I understand where my strengths are and where I need to improve.
Well, back to editing!
Oh! Since this is a short post, I’ll share a song.
I took this one from my character D’s playlist. I’m also a big fan of this album by Alizée. It’s fantastic!
First off I would like to say great blog! I had a quick question in which I’d like to ask
if you do not mind. I was interested to find out
how you center yourself and clear your thoughts before writing.
I’ve had trouble clearing my thoughts in getting my thoughts out there.
I truly do enjoy writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are lost just trying to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or hints?
Kudos!

Instead of stressing about how/where to start, sometimes it’s easiest to just write what feels natural. Even if the first thing you put on the page is “Title” or “It was a regular Sunday” it can take away the pressure of starting. I find doing this little exercise can help, as it allows me to build ideas as I go.
Another thing that I do is I will sometimes make a list of prompts or topics that I’d like to write about. I usually do this a few days prior to actually writing. This gives me time to sit with an idea and imagine possible starting places. That way I’m not sitting around for 15 minutes trying to get started. I’ve already given myself a few days to plan.
I hope this helps!
