I’m absolutely thrilled at how many people have been getting into classics. I read a lot of them between middle school and university but I still have a handful on my to-be-read list. It’s just nice being able to talk to someone about a book I’ve read that I found really beautiful.

I’d like to get back into reading more classics this year and would love to reread some of my old favourites like Great Expectations. Many of these books weren’t assigned to me in school, which I’m honestly thankful for because I think being forced to read them might have made me hate them.
Not everything that I was assigned to read was bad, in fact much of what I read I enjoyed. I think it just became a bit overwhelming trying to read 4-6 books each week for school, rather than for fun. I’m getting back into reading novels again and definitely want to challenge myself to read faster. I’d love to go back to finishing books within a few hours versus a few days or weeks. Mainly because I have so many books that I want to read, and I want to get to all of them as quickly as possible so that I can make room for new books.
Right now I’m reading Daughter of Black Lake, which I absolutely adore. I’d love to challenge myself to finish it by the end of this week but with my book being released this week, I’ve been fairly busy. I’ve also got the novel Mary Jane, the Best Babysitters Ever sequel and a bunch of graphic novels and manga to read once I’ve finished that. I somehow went from being three books ahead in my reading goal for the year to being six books behind while prepping for Vermin’s release. I don’t know how I let that happen…but I’ll be sure to catch up.
