Question 1: Where is your favourite place to be alone and why?
When it’s cold, the library. In the summer time I like to go to the creek. No one else goes there anymore. It’s a lot nicer than sitting in my room all the time.
Question 2: What is your favourite holiday?
I don’t think I have one. I find birthday’s incredibly fun though. It’s almost my friends birthday. He shares his with a holiday. I’m going to try making him a cake. I just hope my uncle doesn’t eat it before I can give it to him.

Question 4: What is something that people make fun of you for?
Um…well sometimes the other kids at school say bad things about my uncle. I just ignore it though. I’m used to it…or well. I just try not to let it bother me.
Question 5: What is the most memorable untrue rumour that has ever been spread about you?
About me? I doubt anyone cares enough. Well I guess everyone at school assumes that Thompson and I are dating but I wouldn’t really call that a rumour and…it isn’t exactly untrue. What I mean is that we have been on a date but we aren’t dating. At least I don’t think we are.
Question 6: Do you have any nicknames? If so which is your favourite and which ones do you hate?
My uncle calls me Flower. It’s such a horrible nickname…but my mother did name me after one. I don’t hate it but it’s a little embarrassing.
Question 7: What are 3 things that you would never do?
Kiss Thompson.
Sleep outside at night.
Go into the basement. It’s awfully dark and smells funny.
Question 8: What’s been on your mind lately?
My friend. He’s very sick…I’m scared he’s going to die.
Question 9: What is your favourite season and why?
I love winter. My birthday’s in the winter. I’m usually sad in the summertime. My parents passed away in the summer….
Question 10: What do you want to be remembered for?
I’m not sure yet. I don’t even know what I want to be when I grow up! I do like stories though. Maybe I’ll become the worlds greatest storyteller or have my own bookshop or a library? That would be so, so lovely.

I used to have my own special tree. I’d climb up as high as I could and hide from everyone. You could see so much from up there.

Don’t care much for them. I guess its nice to have a day off though.
Question 3: Describe your family in 8 words.
Eight? Verjik Hiloven…Ha. Ha. Okay. Hmm…my first one is definitely going to be Verjik. My sister is very funny. She likes playing jokes on us. One time she pretended to put a spider on my head! She’s nice though. She doesn’t always pick on me. My siblings are bullies sometimes but they don’t mean it. Besides grandmother would kill them if they tried anything. How many words am I at? I lost count. Forget it I can’t think of anymore anyway.
Question 4: What is something that people make fun of you for?
I’m the smallest and the youngest. I’m also not so great with killing my food…or bugs. I’d rather make friends with a rabbit than snap its neck. I mean if I’m starving I guess but…well…my brother says to just stop naming my food. Apparently naming it makes you feel attached.
Question 5: What is the most memorable untrue rumour that has ever been spread about you?
According to Hiloven’s, my kind paint ourselves in the blood of our victims. Not sure why they would think that? Oh and some think we can grow horns. Bloka’s.
Question 6: Do you have any nicknames? If so which is your favourite and which ones do you hate?
No but I wish I did! I’ve been trying to get one. I thought it would be nice to be called something like The Wolf but then my siblings said I’m more of a cub or a squirrel. Squirrels aren’t tough sounding though…but they are good climbers.
Question 7: What are 3 things that you would never do?
I would never, ever, ever trust a Hiloven…unless I had no other option. I also would never eat their food. It smells good but I heard they poisoned an entire pack. They’re masters when it comes to poisons. Lastly I would never let a Hiloven cut my hair. They might use it for a potion or a poison or make it so short that my ears would freeze off!
Question 8: What’s been on your mind lately?
Another pack wants to merge with us…and if we don’t we’ll have to leave our home. I also found out where my baby teeth were buried. It may sound silly but I was really hoping they’d grow into a tree or something.
Question 9: What is your favourite season and why?
I like the Fall. It’s really fun making leaf piles and jumping in them. Plus leaves make great nap piles too. Oh and I get to help sell jams and jellies at the market. I’m kind of an expert when it comes to sales.
Question 10: What do you want to be remembered for?
I have no idea. Maybe being the fastest being alive. I’ve gotten really good at catching rabbits. I bet if I tried I could catch just about anything. My siblings can’t even catch me.

Question 1: Where is your favourite place to be alone and why?
I like travelling alone. I think better when I’m in motion. It’s not really one place or another. Any particular place I can think of is somewhere I enjoy spending time with my friends. I guess I’m not much of an “alone” person.
Question 2: What is your favourite holiday?
It isn’t exactly a holiday, but when I was a little girl we had to put on these Winter Pageants at school. My friends all hated them but I loved spending the month decorating, learning songs and dances. Afterwards we’d have a big dance with everyone and their families, and my cousin and uncle would come visit from out of town. If that were a holiday it’d be my favourite.
Question 4: What is something that people make fun of you for?
I used to get teased about how I did my hair. Now I get teased for my choice in men.
Question 5: What is the most memorable untrue rumour that has ever been spread about you?
Wow…well anything Connie has ever spread about has been somewhat truthful. I don’t think any of them were untrue. I guess it’s more gossip than rumours. I ran away to get married once. Never got married. For some reason people still think I’m engaged to the man.
Question 6: Do you have any nicknames? If so which is your favourite and which ones do you hate?
Let’s see, Freckles and Pigtails. Both nicknames I absolutely hate. I’ve never understood why anyone would nickname you based on what you look like. I used to wish people would nickname me something like Speedy or Lightning. I think I’ve outgrown nicknames at this point.
Question 7: What are 3 things that you would never do?
Elope (again). Eat bugs. Drink tea without milk and sugar.
Question 8: What’s been on your mind lately?
I’ve been living with a man who hates me, putting up with my cousin’s nonsense and still have yet to tell my parents I’m back in town. I need to get my own place.
Question 9: What is your favourite season and why?
Winter. It’s so much fun! The snow, the festivities, the hot chocolate! It makes me feel like a little kid again.
Question 10: What do you want to be remembered for?
I want to be remembered as someone who made a positive impact in others lives. Even if it was something small. I’d just hope someone remembered me fondly…although I could care less about how that man remembers me. He’s stubborn. He’ll do as he wishes. He can stay miserable for all I care.
Although, if by some miracle I manage even a smile from him I think I’ll have done my job.

My favourite place to be alone? I’m not sure I even like being alone–wait! My bed. My bed is my favourite place to be alone. Sleep is precious and shouldn’t be interrupted…but mine is. Constantly. I just want to sleep in till noon. I haven’t been able to do that in forever.
Question 2: What is your favourite holiday?
All Holiday’s that include large meals. Especially if I get desert. It’s important to have a good meal. I wish there was a holiday where all you had to do was eat.
Question 3: Describe your family in 8 words.
Eight? You’re kidding me right? That’s way too many. Okay! Fine, I’ll answer. Um…can I do it per relative? Certain words I reserve for certain people and I’d rather not accidentally associate them with undeserving people. What? I am not complicating this…okay I might be just a little.
Rose, Caspian and Julius are funny, smart and tiring…comforting but I seriously can’t keep up with them anymore. I hate getting older.
Lawrence is imaginative and insane. Mostly insane but in a good way.
My parents? I can’t really use those words here…their not family friendly. How about stiff and strict? That’s all you get. I prefer not to speak to ill of my mother. I haven’t been the easiest…person to deal with. Next question.
Question 4: What is something that people make fun of you for?
A few things. My niece thinks I’m boring…which I’m not. I’m definitely the most interesting person alive. Haha…she’s probably right. I don’t get out much, nor do I want to these days.
I’m also banned from the local pub for a poorly made decision that I’d prefer to never mention aloud…as I barely remember doing this. Okay I do remember. I just don’t want to tell you. Fair?
Question 5: What is the most memorable untrue rumour that has ever been spread about you?
You should hear some of them! Some little girl said I stabbed my parents to death in our parlour. I made sure to let her know that my mother is alive, and that my father wasn’t stabbed he was shot. Next question?
Question 6: Do you have any nicknames? If so which is your favourite and which ones do you hate?
My best friend started calling me Rolly after he had dinner with my family and I and heard my brother say it. I don’t hate it. I prefer that than when he calls me an idiot. We both know I’m the smartest between the two of us. I’m a bad liar…we’re both stupid and impulsive. That’s why we’re friends.
My other nicknames are murderer, handsome devil and a few others I again can’t say with children present.
Oh and my father just called me “boy” all the time. I don’t think he really cared what my name was? I’m named after him too…prick.
Question 7: What are 3 things that you would never do?
Give up sugar, leave Peter in charge of my children for more than an hour, kill people.
No one ever believes the last one…so I don’t blame you if you want to end this interview early. You don’t? Oh. Well okay but I have somewhere to be in about twenty-minutes so let’s keep this short.
Question 8: What’s been on your mind lately?
Money. See, I’m broke and I really don’t know how I’m going to be able to afford buying all of these clothes and toys and books and things for the kids. I just realized that I called the kids, my children earlier…I’m not a parent. I’m their uncle. They’re basically mine…but I don’t–I’m single. So if you don’t mind a family of four, living with a rumoured murderer and have some cash on hand to lend me, I’d be willing to change my relationship status.
No really, do you have $30? I want to buy this hat I saw in the window of the dress shop. It’s got a ribbon in the back and I think Rose would like it.
Question 9: What is your favourite season and why?
I used to like Summer. I didn’t have to stay indoors all the time. My friends and I had bonfires by the lake and I’d bring my guitar with me. I’m a lot better at piano but guitars are portable.
Dianna used to try to get me to go swimming…but I don’t know how. I almost drowned as a kid and my parents never let me back in the water.
Nowadays, I surprisingly like the Fall. Food tastes better in the Fall and I love the rain. I hate getting caught in it but there’s just something pretty about colourful leaves against a grey sky.
Question 10: What do you want to be remembered for?
What’s the sense in being remembered for anything? We die and are forgotten after a few generations. Do you honestly think I give a damn about those dead people we learned about in school? If I had to choose I’d rather not be remembered. I can’t think of one reason why anyone would want to remember me….
Well actually…it would be nice to be remembered for something. I just don’t want to be remembered as a jerk or a murderer or as stubborn but people only remember the things they think are interesting about you and honestly I’m not that interesting.
Doing this interview was fun but also very difficult. Roland doesn’t cooperate well when he’s hungry or tired…and I think he’s both today. Today I’m going to be drawing him and his best friend. I try to record my drawing process and post that to my Instagram story. If you ever miss a day, I save the stories to my drawing highlights.
Anyway, I hope you liked meeting Roland. I debated interviewing him first but I answer most of the Twitter character questions with him so it made the most sense.
